A non-governmental organization and human right group, Movement for Better Lagos (MBL), has given Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu a pass mark over his efforts towards human development for financial and economic empowerment of the state’s citizens.
The group’s leader, Comrade Ekudina Ibrahim, in a statement said praised Sanwo-Olu’s administration on the training of 4, 885 people that graduated from the 17 Skill Acquisition Centres across the state, saying, “the initiative is a welcome development.”
According to Ibrahim, acquiring skills in several trades like Fashion Designing, Hat and Bead making, Aluminium Fabrication, Shoe making among others would increase the number of micro, small and medium entrepreneurs in the state and by extension improve the the socio-economic status of the beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries, the youth leader continued, would be financially sufficient, economically independent and emotionally stable to be able to contribute their modest quotas to the growth of the state economy and its welfare.
In addition, the group reasoned that where all hands were effectively and gainfully engaged, the rate of crime in the communities would be reduced drastically; stressing that, the dependence over government for assistance would be a thing of the past for those beneficiaries.
While believing that the scheme would be a continuous exercise, the group also believed that, the graduands, who have been empowered with necessary tools to practise their respective trades, would reciprocate the government’s good gesture by hitting the ground running to further boost the economy of the state.
The group was convinced that, Sanwo-Olu and his team of brilliant and tested team are ultimately leading a revolution of ideas steeped in profound assertion with the leaders confidently holding on to the sincere promises made during the electioneerings.
At this juncture, the NGO therefore urged the people to give the administration more support and encouragement to do so, assuring that, “the way this Sanwo-Olu’s administration is going, it is poised to take the state to the enviable height of word standard.
In conclusion, the group is of the belief that, with the support and goodwill of every individual in the state, the journey to a greater Lagos is certain and ensured.
