The Building Collapse Prevention Guild (BCPG) in collaboration with the Yaba Local Council Development Area of Lagos State took to the streets of Yaba on Thursday, 17th July, 2014 to sensitize the public on increased building collapse in Nigeria.
The Chairman of Yaba LCDA, Hon Jide Jimoh, who was part of the rally told
Journalists that it is the responsibility of Nigerians to work with government to end building collapse in Nigeria.
“Lets work together with the government and the group to stop the menace of building collapse in Nigeria.
That is why we are on the streets of Yaba to sensitize the public on the causes of building collapse and how to prevent it through the help of the government and professionals,” he said
Also, the traditional ruler of Gbobi-Sabe, Oba Owolabi Adeniyi, who joined the campaign, said the awareness should be an eye opener for everyone as increased cases of building collapse has led to the untimely death of many people in the country.
