A pro-democracy organization, Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), has expressed its readiness to seek redress in the court of competent jurisdiction against the author of a fake story that accused Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of driving against the traffic.
This was disclosed by the National President of the group, Comrade Razaq Olokoba during a chat with newsmen in Lagos, where he frowned at attempts by enemies of progress and development who are bent on discrediting the Sanwo-Olu’s good intention to move the state to the next level of an enviable height.
The video clip of the unknown traffic offenders has been going viral on the internet with a woman commentator alleging that the offender was the state governor claiming that Sanwo-Olu was committing the offence because he was avoiding pot holes occasioned from his inability to rehabilitate the roads.
Although, the governor has denied the allegation saying the unfortunate incident would be investigated, the CDG has vowed to get to the roots of the issue insisting that, “when the culprit is eventually fished out, he or she would have us to be contended with at the court of law.”
Speaking further, Olokoba stated that Lagosians are not bothered about any incitement or campaign of calumny against the government of the day, stressing that, “many people agree with us that Sanwo-Olu we all know will never drive against the traffic.”
“Against this backdrop, we have taken a decision to take the woman or whoever that is behind it to court because billions of naira is being spent yearly by the government in responding to fake news and false allegations.
“This is a familiar terrain on which they perpetually operate but sadly they kept failing in all their attempts and they will not give up because the progress the government is making causes them headache.”
The organization therefore warned perpetrators of evil wills to desist from their evil way saying, “no amount of campaigns of calumny against the current administration can detract the governor who is committed to have his eyes on the ball.
In conclusion, Olokoba urged the people of Lagos to keep on supporting the Sanwo-Olu’s administration, saying, “he will not disappoint you."
