Various interest groups in Amuwo Odofin Local Government such as ethnic nationalities, market Associations, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association (RTEAN), artisans, and youths, amongst others have pledged their overwhelming support for General Mohammad Buhari, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the forthcoming 2015 general elections.
They make this pledge during an interactive session with the former Chairman of the local government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, held at Sunfit and Spa, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos.
They noted that Nigerians deserve a new visionary leader, a government who will protect and promote their welfare and keep the country united as one irrespective of faith, tribe and political affiliation, hence, the decision to vote en mass for all APC candidates in the coming election.
They further stressed that “The only man who is already tested and trusted with consistency of will and purpose to lead us on this journey to the Nigeria of our dream, the new Nigeria is Gen. Muhammad Buhari (rtd).”
The groups also condemned the intention of the Goodluck Jonathan administration to use the military in the forthcoming election, noting that they should concentrate on their constitutional role, by defending the territorial integrity of the country.
The convener of the meeting, Comrade Adewale averred that Nigeria and Nigerians need “A government who will fight corruption to a standstill, provide quality education, trusted and affordable health care system, clean energy and supply, functional and reliable integrated transport networks, strategic economic development and growth.
“A president who will make us more proud again as awesome Nigerians anywhere on this planet and work with the business community for effective administration is what Nigerians want to vote for. Nigerians are tired of People who use religion and ethnicity sentiments to divide the country”.
Comrade Adewale further stated that “if we have tried a government for 16 years and no meaningful development, just give us four years. Aswiaju Tinubu demonstrated it, Gov. Fashola sustained the development, hence, Lagos State has been the point of reference. It is all happening in APC controlled states.”
The convener also said that, “We call on all Nigerians to pull together in one voice, persuade, influence and enlighten our families and loved ones to vote out President Jonathan and PDP led government by voting for the APC candidates, Gen. Muhammad Buhari/Prof. Oshinbajo as president and vice president come March 28, as well as, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode as Governor of Lagos State and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC)”.
Comrade Adewale enjoined all to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) which will make them eligible to vote.
