A septuagenarian mother and a businesswoman in Delta State Identified as Madam Christy Obi is currently in pains over the mysterious death of her son on Thursday.
Reports said that the woman, a native of Utagba-Uno but residing along DSIEC road, Asaba, had prepared dinner for her household, fed the two older children (5 and the other 3-year-olds) before she took them to her shop located directly in front of her compound.
But at about 8pm on the fateful day, the younger child identified as Divine was dozing and because the shop was not conducive enough for him, the middle-aged woman took him to their house (a make-shift building) located a few metres away for a good sleep.
LEADERSHIP Sunday gathered that on getting to the house, she lit a candle stick, gently and innocently placed it on the floor because there was power outage. She then returned to her shop but at about 9pm, she heard a loud shout of fire outbreak followed by a thick smoke.
She ran towards the direction only to discover that it was their house burning with her son inside.
Sympathisers’ efforts to quench the fire proved abortive as they heard the cry of the little boy in the inferno.
