The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company is in the eyes of the storm as some of its clients are crying out over its arm twisting conditions for transformer installation, reports The Gazelle News.com.
This medium investigations revealed that registered Licence Electrical Contractors with Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company have been complaining over the stringent conditions put in place by the company for transformer installation.
According to some contractors who spoke with The Gazelle News.com that the electricity distribution company demands for the following for any transformer installation in the areas covered by the company: (a) certificate of occupancy or deed of agreement (b) owner’s identification and (c) letter of introduction from the property owner.
“They are deliberately frustrating us because this is not the case with other distribution companies. In Eko Electricity Distribution Company, for instance, this is not the case. As a registered Licence Electrical Contractor, one only need to write letter approval, and their men come for inspection of the site and the approval is given, but this is not the case with Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company,” one of the contractors told The Gazelle News.com.
This medium learnt further that even after the stringent conditions have been met, and contactors apply through online DT application, it takes weeks for the approval to be granted.
“Sometimes, it takes a month before the approval is granted even after one has met all the conditions,” another contactor alleged.
The Gazelle News.com leant further that the female CEO of Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company only sign approval twice a week which leaves backlog in her file which subsequently delays approval for transformer installation even after all the stringent conditions have been met.
