IGP Condemns Violence In Plateau, Rivers; Warns Politicians Against Thuggery, Violence

The Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has condemned in strong terms the two pre-election violence where campaign vehicles, buildings and valuable properties worth millions of naira, belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Congress (APC) were damaged in Jos and Port-Harcourt respectively.

Saddened by the ugly developments, the IGP reminded politicians, party supporters and well meaning Nigerians, that, “politics is a means of enthroning custodians of the people’s common wealth, for the overall benefit of all. As such it should be played with every sense of decorum devoid of religious, ethnic and all other forms of primordial sentiments”.

Abba assured Nigerians that the perpetrators of these unaccepted and heinous acts will not go unpunished as the police will do all it takes to bring them to justice.
