The Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area, Engr Abdul Fatai Oyesanya has urged the Nigerian Legion to collaborate with his administration towards ensuring the safety of life and property of the people in the council area.
The council chairman stated this on Monday, in his office while receiving corps of commissioners from the Lagos State Command of the Legion who were on a courtesy visit to him.
The delegation was led by retired Captain Ayoola Ayoyinka.
Engr Oyesanya told the delegation that it has become imperative for all hands to be on deck on the issue of security, in view of the incessant cases of kidnapping, discovery of ritualists dens, rape and other crimes recorded in various parts of Lagos State.
He assured the Nigerian Legion and other security agencies that his administration will provide necessary support in the area of logistics to enable them discharge their functions effectively.
He added that,the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has performed tremendously well on security in the state, even to the extent of re-branding and rejuvenating the local neighborhood watch. He concluded that his administration will do everything within its reach to complement the Governor’s effort on security.
Earlier in his remark, captain Ayoyinka informed the council chairman that the purpose of the visit is to assure him that the Lagos State Command of Nigerian Legion is totally in support of the various efforts of government aimed at combating crime in the state, and that his officers attached to Ikosi-Isheri LCDA are ready to support the council to achieve peace and security among the people.
Earlier before the closed door discussion between the council chairman and the delegation, Engr Oyesanya inspected a guard of honour displayed by members of the Legion at the council secretariat.
