Insecurity: Nigerians Should Vote Out PDP At Federal Level, Says Jide Jimoh, Yaba LCDA Boss

The Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon Jide Jimoh has said that changing of government at the federal level through the ballot box will provide solution to the problem of insecurity in Nigeria.

He made this known over the weekend at a public discourse organised by Concerned Citizens for Good Health.

The council chairman emphasized that good governance remains the best antidote to power failure, social vices and the likes facing the country.

In his lecture titled, ‘Power Failure and Security Challenges: Way Forward’, he said “Federal Government needs to be more serious and committed to the provision of a stable power supply in the country.

“A progressive party will provide the right leadership that will not only provide a panacea to the critical power problem facing the nation but will take Nigeria to its rightful place in the comity of nations.

“There should be a complete decentralization of power supply for effectiveness and efficiency. Even its privatization programme was designed as a means of making money. States should be empowered to engage in power generation and transmission”.

Jimoh stated that Nigerians were facing irregular power supply because Federal Government lacks imagination and initiative.

“Regrettably, Nigeria is unable to get it right in matter relating to power supply. Indiscriminate use of generators has its own evils as a lot of deaths have been traced to generator fumes.

“Today, Nigeria’s power generation capacity is below a paltry 4000 megawatts to service an estimated population of about 170 million people. Power outrages are in fact no more an abnomality in Nigeria”

He said the Federal Government should be proactive and follow the steps of the All Progressives Congress (APC) controlled states to enhance enabling environment for the masses.

“Massive creation of jobs, provision of an enabling environment for business to thrive, conscious and consistent infrastructural development, free and qualitative education, free health facilities, affordable and qualitative housing as demonstrated by APC governments at state and local governments are programmes with the propensity to enhance the quality of lives of people and reduce drastically the tendency to engage in crimes and criminal activities”, he added.
