The Senate has asked Nigeria’s military chiefs to ‘step aside’ to enable a restructure of the military architecture in the country.
The senate made the call on Tuesday when Francis Fadahunsi, the senator representing Osun East Senatorial District move a motion in an amended resolution which was earlier moved by Senator Ali Ndume representing Borno South Senatorial district, said: “Mr President, distinguished colleagues, I hereby moved an amendment to the resolution that all the Service Chiefs should step down”.
Also, Senator Betty Apiafi seconded the motion and the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, upheld the motion.
Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, the Senate President, in his remarks, expressed disappointment at the large number of military officers who are leaving the war front, stating that there is the need for the government to look into the problem with the military.
