A foremost Islamic non-governmntal organisation, The Companion, has condemned the recent recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel by the United States of America (USA).
The decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israeli capital announced by President Donald Trump has received global condemnation as it was described as a ploy to disrupt peace in the Middle East.
The decision of The Companion was announced by the organisation’s president, Alhaji Thabit Wale Sonaike at a press briefng in Lagos.
The Islamic organisation stated that the US decision was an attempt “to truncate the existing fragile peace in that part of the Middle East”.
The organisation therefore called “on US citizens to rise up against this move by President Donald Trump to truncate the existing fragile peace in the Middle East.
There is too much tension in the Middle East to start another another controversy that may snowball into crisis in this region”.
The Companion while commending the Federal Government for the early presentation of the budget, called on the National Assembly to ensure early passage of the budget though while also ensuring thorough scrutiny of its provisions.
