Itire-Ikate Council Commissions Ambulances, Drug Vehicle For PHCs’ Use

Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area of Lagos State on Monday, 4th August, 2014, commissioned two ambulance vehicles and a drug truck for the use of some public health centres in the council area.

The Chairman of the council, Hakeem Adisa Bamgbala, while speaking to journalists at the event, stated that the two ambulances have been earmarked for use by Ijeshatedo PHC and the yet to be completed Airways PHC currently under construction while the drug vehicle will be in charge of distribution of drugs to the various PHCs in the council area.

“This project is done in collaboration with the Lagos State Government and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It is a tripartite arrangement involving the state and local government and the MDGs. The three bodies contributed money for the project to become a reality,” Bamgbala, also Secretary of Conference 57, umbrella body of council chairmen in Lagos State said.

According to him, the council has been up and doing in ensuring that it plays its part in even distribution of MDGs’ projects in the area. “We have also ensure that we monitor projects being done by contractors as we don’t want sub-standard projects for our people. Personally, I ensure regular visits to project sites to ensure that works are not only done, but done to specification,” he said.

Bamgbala stated that there are various MDGs’ related projects going on in the council area which have been cpontributing meaningfully to improvement in the lives of the people of the council area.

“There are some school constructions and rehabilitations going on while we have also been rehabilitating and constructing public health centres. These PHCs are also supplied with drugs regularly and adequately. These are all MDGs’ related projects,” he said.

Bamgbala stated further that the Airways area PHC will soon be completed with the contractor already mobilised to site. “We have the money already. It is domicilled in an account purposely for this project hence nobody can touch it. We are determined to complete the project in record time,” he said.
