It’s Impossible For PDP To Take Over Osun State From Me- Aregbesola

Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Tuesday, 24th June, 2014, declared that he was not intimidated by the victory of the Peoples’ Democratic Party candidate, Mr. Ayo Fayose Saturday’s 21st June, 2014, governorship election in Ekiti state saying All Progressive Congress (APC) has come to stay in Osun state.

Addressing the mammoth crowd who thronged Coker ground, Eweta area of Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun local government area of Osun State, Aregbesola said it is pratically impossible for PDP to take over Osun adding that the PDP’s candidate does not have what it takes to oust him in the August 9 governorship poll in the state.

While explaining that Osun has been and remain a different state in the political terrain of the country, Governor Aregbesola revealed that all the Yoruba states voted for President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 general election but only Osun people voted for Nuhu Ribadu as President.

He implored the people of the state to go to their various local government areas and obtain their voter’s cards urging them not to succumb to forces that may want to induce them financially with the aim of getting their rights from them.

The governor said: “I am not shaken by the outcome of Ekiti election. That’s Ekiti state, we are Osun people and we are quite different from Ekiti people, we are not and cannot be intimidated in any form by the outcome of Ekiti governorship election.


“That is not to say that we are unhappy about the happenings in Ekiti. It is democracy and that is how Ekiti people wanted it.”

Assuring the people of the state that his second term in office, if elected will be better that the current term, Aregbesola faulted the allegation that his government plan to retrench public servants in the state saying instead, his government is planning to recruit more especially teachers to enhance the standard of education in the state.

Governor Aregbesola also assured that his government will not ban commercial motorcycle operators adding that all the infrastructure and developmental projects he initiated needed to be completed.

He stated that the delay in the payment of salaries and pension of workers and retired workers was caused by deliberate shortage of fund from the federation account adding it has political undertone.

Also speaking at the rally, the first executive governor of the state, Senator Isiaka Adeleke appealed to party members to work more than ever before in order to ensure victory of APC in the state.

The chairman of Aregbesola Campaign Committee, Senator Sola Adeyeye said that Aregbesola was not hiring crowd for campaign saying that he is God’s sent to transform the state.

Adeyeye urged the people to continue to support the programmes and policies of APC’s government in order to get the best.

“I am very happy with your turn out and appreciate you all your support for our party and administration,” he said.
