Jide Jimoh To FG: Stop Political Campaign, Curtail Ebola

The Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, Hon. Jide Jimoh has called on the Federal Government to stop any form of political campaign and concentrate on how to stop the spread of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the country.

He disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday, 2nd September, 2014 while reacting to the Virus spread to Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Yaba council chairman stated that the Federal Government should not have allowed a group named Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) to embark on rally in Port Harcourt when it understands that Ebola Virus is contagious and is present in the state.

Jimoh also said that the approach put in place by the Federal Government is not good enough to fight the Ebola Virus, saying it should be improved upon.

According to him, “the Federal Government want to stop the spread of Ebola Virus and it allows the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), a group campaigning for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan to go ahead with its rally. This is wrong and insensitive”.

The council boss supported the shift in school resumption date to October 13, saying if that will prevent children and students from contacting the Virus, then it should be strictly adhered to.

It would be recalled that the Yaba LCDA recently procured infrared Ebola detector in order to curtail the spread of the Virus not only in the council area but also in the state.
