Six secondary students of Igbonla Model College, Epe in Lagos who were kidnapped about 65 days ago have been freed.
The six students were abducted on the 25th May, 2017 in broad daylight at the school premises.
Thegazellenews.com learnt that the students were said freed today Friday at about noon.
Thegazellenews.com further learnt that the abducted school children were handed over to the Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Agboola Ajayi after they were brought from Abeto Creeks in Ilaje Eseodo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The Lagos and Ondo State governments in collaboration with the police ensure the final release of the school children.
The abductors had earlier demanded for a N400 million ransom when the children were first abducted. The ransom was later reduced to N100 million.
Names of the students are: Peter Jonah, Isiaq Rahmon, Adebayo George, Judah Agbausi, Pelumi Philips and Farouq Yusuf.
Gunmen in military camouflage had allegedly stormed the school and abducted the six students from their hostel.
It could not be confirmed if any ransom was paid for their release as at press time today.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, confirmed their release.
