Hours before the final interment of the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, a popular monarch in Lagos also joined his ancestors.
The Elegbeda of Egbeda kingdom in Alimoso Local Government Area of Lagos State, Oba Samson Alade Balogun, early Friday, 14th August, 2015, after battling with series of illness.
Reports stated that he died in a private hospital in Ipaja area of the state but his remains were reported to have been deposited at an unnamed morgue in the state prior plans for his burial.
The late monarch has been battling illness for a longtime which has led to several medical trips abroad before finally giving up the ghost on Friday, 14th August, 2015.
The late monarch was reported to be in his late 70s. He ascended the throne of his forefathers on 22nd October, 2000.
A wealthy businessman, the late monarch was the founder of the defunct popular SAB Super Cinema in Egbeda before ascending the throne.
He was the first full fledged oba of the kingdom since the Egbeda stool was regarded as Baale before his ascension.
He was also a prominent member of the Awori Obas’ Forum and the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs.
