After several weeks of speculations as who the authentic All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship candidate in Apapa Local Government is, the speculation was laid to rest on Sunday, 18 July, 2021 as the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu handed over the flag of the party to Hon Kevin Oluwaseun Gabriel, signalling that he remains the one to fly the flag of the party during the local government election slated for Saturday, 24 July, 2021.
The flag presentation which took place at the state’s party secretariat on Acme Road in Ikeja was presided over by the Governor himself and ably assisted by the chairman of the party, Alhaji Tunde Balogun and other state officers.
Hon KOG received his flag alongside his vice chairmanship candidate amidst ovation from enthusiastic followers and party members..
Immediately after his receipt of the flag, Hon Kevin Oluwaseun Gabriel while speaking with journalists at the sidelines of the event thanked almighty God for sustaining him till date, despite all the troubles he encountered after emerging as the candidate of the party.
He promised his government will be an inclusive one that will always take into cognisance the inputs of others especially critical stakeholders in policy formulations and implementations.
He equally waved the olive branch to co- aspirants to join him in the journey of taking Apapa local government to the next level.
In his words, “let me specifically thank God for the protection till date. I must also appreciate my father and mentor, Alhaji Tunde Balogun for his inspiring words and enormous support before, during and after the fiercely contested primary election of the party. To all our party members, you have done well. The show of love during our campaign has shown clearly, you are all genuine members whose passion for Apapa is immeasurable”.
He stated further that, “to those who slugged it out with me on the field for the ticket of our party, it’s time to close ranks and move forward. It’s a collective duty, let’s do it for the sake of our party and dear local government. We are all winners, let’s do our best to ensure Apapa remains in the progressives fold”.
The APC candidate promised to deliver on his promises of impactful projects, stressing that all projects to be embarked upon shall have direct impact on the area and the people will ultimately decide the project to be executed.
