As the 2015 election draws near, the Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdul Fattah Ahmed has continued to receive endorsement from various groups and associations, the latest being the state chapter of the National Youth Council (NYC).
The chairman of the state chapter of NYC, Comrade Kazeem Adekanye, in his address during a solidarity visit to the Governor at the government house in Ilorin said over one million youths in the state have unanimously endorsed Governor Ahmed for a second term in office.
Comrade Adekanye who attributed the endorsement of Governor Ahmed for a second term to the governor’s achievements in the area of youth empowerment and employment, said “I have the mandate of the over one million youths of the state to commend your administration for the excellent work you have done or initiated for the overall development of the state especially in the area of youth empowerment/employment through the KWABES, QuickWin, Entrepreneurship Scheme, Payment of Bursary and Provision of Scholarship to students and direct youth employment into the state civil service which has seen to be empowerment of 10,000 youths”.
Responding, Dr Abdul Fattah Ahmed advised the political class not to politicise the future of Nigeria youths so that the future of Nigeria would not be compromised by a generation of youths inadequately equipped for nation building, just as he counselled the youths not to mortgage their future by selling their votes during the 2015 general election.
According to Dr Ahmed, the state government would establish a Ministry of Youth Development from the present Ministry of Sports and Youth Development to accelerate youth development activities in the state.
