THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Lagos State have rolled out a 10-point plan designed to form the next government in the state.
Part of the action plan is to frustrate any attempt from any quarters to impose candidates on the party for all elective offices, including governorship.
Acting under the aegis of Lagos patriots, the leaders of the movement said the PDP was determined to avoid those pitfalls that paved the way for the All Progressive Congress (APC) to control the state since 1999.
The leader of the movement, Dr Jide Dominic, who unveiled the action plan on Tuesday at a press conference, vowed that the party would no longer accommodate those party leaders, who after being privileged to serve as ministers, often worked against the interest of the PDP at the poll.
He said the party would not allow other fifth columnists pretending to be genuine party members, who in actual fact received juicy contracts from the ruling party in the state as compensation for their hatchet jobs to further infiltrate the PDP.
Dominic said the party leaders would no longer condone a situation, where “such sponsored people were given the ticket of the party at any level of electoral contest.
“This time must be different. Effectively, we need to have decent democratic ethos, which should guide our conduct, especially in picking our candidates at all levels of the party and by so doing, we can have candidates who emerged as representing the will of the people rather than imposition,” Dominic stated.
He said part of the problems that denied the PDP from taking over Lagos over the years was poor management of the chances of the party as it went into successive elections a divided house.
