Lagos Council Chairmen Seek Increase Funding For Security Agencies To Tackle Crime

Conference 57, umbrella body of chairmen of local government and local development areas in Lagos State, has called for increased funding to security just as it reiterates its support for community policing in the country.

The group in a communiqué issued on Thursday, 11th September, 2014, at the end of its two day workshop on security said proper funding of security remain one of the ways to overcome security challenges confronting the nation.

The council chairmen in the communiqué stressed the need for the Federal Government to allocate more funds to security to enable operatives acquire needed security equipment and other relevant logistics to fight crimes in the country.

The body of council chairmen said the primary objective of every responsible government is protection of lives and property of residents.

They also declared support for effective communication at the grassroots in order to provide a far reaching security awareness at that level.
