As part of efforts towards the observance of the 1st Horn Free Day, the Lagos State Government will be appreciating professional drivers who have distinguished themselves in the performance of their duty.
Professional drivers from private, public and corporate organizations will be honoured during the Lagos Drivers Appreciation Day which will take place on Thursday, 9th October, 2014 at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hall, Nurudeen Olowopopo Avenue, Alausa, Ikeja by 10:00am.
This was disclosed by the state Commissioner for Transportation, Comrade Kayode Opeifa at his office in Ikeja.
Opeifa said that the state government is desirous of promoting safety on the road, set up the Lagos State Drivers Institute in 2009 to retrain, re-certify drivers and correct the deficiencies identified in their behaviour.
The Drivers’ Appreciation Day programme he said further is therefore to celebrate those drivers who have contributed to safe driving habits on the road.
He appealed to the corporate organizations who have been invited and have nominated their drivers to release them for the programme.
