In matching words to action, the City Gate Minna – Chanchaga road that has been in bad state for sometimes, is about to wear a new look as Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has directed the State Infrastructure Committee to ensure H&M Company is mobilized to site with immediate effect to carry out repairs.
It would be recalled that Governor Sani Bello had recently expressed concerns over the difficulties being faced by motorists plying the road and promised to armiliorate their suffering even though it is a Federal road.
According to the Governor, “we have reviewed our budget, we are going to do a lot of maintenances, take for example, the City Gate Minna to Chanchaga Road which is a Federal Road actually, but the road is extremely bad and with raining season now, it makes life very difficult. So even though is a Federal Road, we have to look for money to see that we at least make it motorable”.
The Infrastructure Committee is responsible for monitoring the execution of all Infrastructural projects in the state to ensure that the projects are carried out according to specifications and within the time agreed on the contract.
The Committee which is Chaired by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe has Commissioners of Finance, Justice, Works and Infrastructure as well as Budget and Planning alongside their Permanent Secretaries, Director, Civil Engineering, Ministry of Works, DG, ICT Coodinator, Legacy Projects and SPA to the Chief of Staff as members.
