My Doors Are Open To All – Aregbesola

By Timothy Agbor, Osogbo

People of Osun state, southwest Nigeria have been advised to put aside their political differences and work with the present administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola with a view to transforming the state.

The Governor gave this advice on Tuesday, 19th August, 2014 during a reception organised by the staff of the state Ministry of Environment and Sanitation in Osogbo over his victory in the governorship election.

Speaking through his Special Adviser on Environment and Sanitation, Hon. Bola Ilori, Governor Aregbesola stressed that his administration’s doors are opened to all the people of the state irrespective of their political affiliations.

While stressing that more members of the opposition parties would still join the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aregbesola argued that APC will take over power at the centre in 2015 expressing optimism that the party will triumph in the 2015 general election.

Speaking, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Sunday Akere, noted that the outcome of the governorship election in the state depicts the Biblical story of David and Goliath.

Akere who said that God sent Aregbesola as a Messaiah in Osun state implored the people of the state to vote for APC in the Febuary general election saying that the federal allocation given to the state would be doubled should APC candidate emerged President of the country.

On the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), the Commissioner maintained that tourists outside the state should refrain from participating in this year’s Osun Osogbo International Festival in order to prevent the spread of the infection in the state.

Akere particularly urged the leadership of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) to prevail on their members not to attend the festival.

In a related development, the state Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Prof (Mrs) Olubukola Oyawoye warned devotees outside the state not to attend the Osun Osogbo festival.

Oyawoye while admitting the possibility of the Osun water to heal the EVD advised devotees in the state to fetch the water for their relatives who may need it for Ebola cure.
