The Neigbourhood Watch in Lagos Central Senatorial District has honoured the Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District in the Upper Legislative Chamber, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; and the Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Jide Jimoh; among others.
The programme which took place at Teslim Balogun Stadium over the weekend during dinner/award night Command Week Programme of Lagos Central, Area- C command.
In her speech at the event, Senator Tinubu commended the effort of the Neighbourhood Watch for ensuring efficient security service delivery at various communities despite security challenges in the country.
The Senator, who was represented by former state Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Hon. Jide Sanwo-Olu, said, “I know how strategic Neigbourhood Watch is, in term of security, so I commend you for doing a very good job. As the saying, ‘the only reward for good work is more work’ you should all do what is expected of you”. Senator Tinubu was conferred with the Grand Patron honour of the watchers.
The Chairman of Yaba LCDA, Hon Jide Jimoh, also urged all and sundry to support the Watchers in state in order to maintain serenity and tranquility in the neighbourhood.
“Lagos State established Neighbourhood Watch as watching eyes to compliment the effort of the police through verifiable information, we must put hands together to support them,” he said.
The Yaba LCDA Chairman who was decorated alongside with all the local government chairmen in the senatorial district said residents should secure the environment by given security agencies information that will assist them.
“We should take responsibilities in securing our lives and properties as their Command Week Theme said “See Something…. Say Something”, he said
