Residents of Ilobu town, the administrative headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area of Osun State, southwest Nigeria were on Wednesday, 14th May, 2014 thrown into shock when a man was discovered dead on a grave after attempting to exhume its corpse.
The identity of the middle aged man could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report but the residents of the area revealed that the deceased attempted to exhume the corpse before nemesis caught up with him.
The suspected ritualist was discovered lifeless on the grave that he was allegedly digging. Although, none of the apparently tensed residents could explain to thegazellenews.com on what led to the death of the man, a resident who craved anonimity said the ‘spirit’ of the corpse would have struck him to death.
According to the residents of the area, they woke up to discover the lifeless body of the suspected ritualist around 7am beside the grave with digger and shovel.
Reacting to the development, the Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Mrs Folashade Odoro confirmed the incident saying the suspected ritualist was confirmed dead by a medical expert.
She however advised the residents of Ilobu not to entertain fear stressing that the police would unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the suspected ritualist.
The PPRO then said the remains of the suspected ritualist had been deposited at the mogue for autopsy.
