Team Lagos today confirmed its dominance in football event of the ongoing 2019 National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara state.
Team Lagos boys team defeated Delta State on Friday to complete the doubles over the South South state, Delta, by a lone goal at the Maracana Stadium of University of Ilorin.
Team Lagos girls team had earlier on Thursday defeated their Delta State counterparts by the same margin.
With Friday victory, Lagos confirmed its domination of football development in the country making history as the first state to win both gold medals in boys and girls events of the games.
Speaking after the victory, the Director General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafaar expressed satisfaction over the victory, praising the boys for making the state proud.
He also thanked the governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his support and encouragement for sports in the state.
Gafaar attributing the achievement of the state to the governor, revealed that the governor gave them all they needed to succeed, urging all the state athletes to remain focus as they forge ahead to do the state proud.
