Ogun Police Foil Mob Attack, Rescue Two ‘Mad Men’, Warn Against Jungle Justice

The Ogun State Police command has decried the manner some members of the public attack certain individuals on frivolous allegations of kidnapping, child stealing and rituals killing in Abeokuta and other major cities of the state.

There was an attempted attack on a house at 30, CDA Asipa Street, Ijaye, Abeokuta, southwest Nigeria on Monday, 21st April, 2014, at about 10 am but the prompt intervention of the policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Itoku Division saved the house from being burnt by the hoodlums.

After a thorough search on the house by the policemen, high chiefs of the area and representatives of the youth, nothing incriminating was found yet some miscreants still attacked the police with a view of gaining entrance into the building to loot the properties there in and set the house ablaze.

A situation which led to the arrest of 17 suspects, who will be charged to court soon.

Similarly, two people of unsound mind  mad men) were also on Monday, 21st April, 2014, attacked and injured by some miscreants in Enugada and Lafenwa areas of Abeokuta but were rescued by policemen who promptly got to the venue of the incident.

The command thus sent warning notes to the public to desist from the criminal act as the police will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone caught in the act.
