Incumbent Governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo l Akeredolu has been announced the winner of the 2020 Ondo Governorship Election.
The Chief Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Idowu Olayinka declared Akeredolu the winner of the election saying: “Having satisfied the requirements of the law, I hereby declare Rotimi Akeredolu as the winner and is hereby returned elected”
Apart from winning the highest number of votes cast during the election, Akeredolu also polled more than 25 percent of the total votes cast in each of the 18 local government areas of the state.
In all he won in 15 of the 18 local governments while his closest rival, Eyitayo Jegede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in three local government areas.
The incumbent polled 292,914 votes as against 195,431votes.
