The Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation has said a former Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Segun Oni, was forced to join the All Progressives Congress because of the intimidating profile of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The Director General of AFCO, Mr. Owoseni Ajayi, said this in a statement on Tuesday.
The campaign organisation described Oni’s exit from the PDP as “good riddance to bad rubbish.”
Fayose had abandoned Oni in 2009 rerun supplementary election to work with Fayemi who eventually won.
The statement read in part, “Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party will not miss Mr. Segun Oni. He is free to take along with him other directionless followers with him to the APC.
“We have no regret over Oni’s departure. He is of the ACN, just returning to where he was before he was imposed as the PDP candidate in 2007.
“If Oni is spiritual enough, he would know that it is the table that is turning back to its original take-off point of 2006. We wish to remind him that the likes of Dayo Adeyeye, Bisi Kolawole, Dipo Anisulowo, Ojuawo, Aborisade, Tunde Adeniran, Biodun Olujimi and Ayo Arise, who he can call his foot soldiers, are with us in Ekiti PDP.”
Meanwhile, the AFCO has accused the APC of buying about 35,000 voter cards to manipulate the June 21 governorship poll.
The Director of Information of the organisation, Gboyega Aribisogan, said this in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.
He accused the APC of training about 200 fake observers under the platform, ‘Democracy Vanguard,’ at a location in Ekiti, to distribute money to voters on the day of election.
He alleged that the APC paid N5,000 for each voter card, claiming that the government had expended N75m on the illegal business.
The spokesperson for the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation, Mr. Dimeji Daniels, described the allegations as a tissue of lies.
He added that it was Fayose’s known strategy to accuse people of the evil he was about to commit.
Daniel said the PDP was already going about offering people money to copy the VIN number on their voter’s card in a bid to clone the cards.
He said, “The plan is to distribute the cards to the PDP thugs who would then present them for use at polling units and upon discovering that they are fake, they would start to make trouble to prevent those who have legitimate cards from voting.”
