Super Eagles forward Osaze Odemwingie will not be part of the Stoke City side to face Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday, according to manager Mark Hughes.
The Britannia landlords are already sweating on the fitness of Mame Diouf, Glen Johnson, and Marko Arnautovic ahead of the Barclays Premier League fixture against Arsene Wenger’s side while Charlie Adam and Ibrahim Afellay miss out via a red card they received in the 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion before the International break.
However, Hughes did deliver positive news on Nigerian international after he returned to training earlier this week.
“Peter is back amongst the group and has looked really bright to be honest, but we feel that he may well be best served playing in the Under 21 fixture at the weekend,” he said.
“Whilst he is progressing and getting closer, he is still short of match fitness so hopefully the game on Saturday will help push him on.”
Stoke are yet to win any match this season and will hope to change that when they host Southampton at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
