We fought for the party’s ticket fiercely, but since it’s been given to Otunba Oloyede by the party, that’s party’s decision and it’s supreme, we must respect the party by canvassing and supporting all our candidates in the July election.”
Furthermore, he said, “it’s not just voting, but we must ensure we increase our voting strength, let’s increase from what we have been having at elections. With determination and hard-work, I am confident we will win the election with landslide margins.”
Hon. Ariyo equally appealed to the candidate, to carry everybody along in the administration, stressing that in the build up to the primary election, party members might have pitched tents elsewhere, but they have become one since he has emerged as candidate and he should treat them equally.
He also used the opportunity to unveil the vice chairmanship candidate of the party, Hon. Modupe Badmus-Aregbe, and he advised her to be loyal and cooperate with her boss for the development of the local government.
Most members who spoke at the meeting advised the candidate to work for the progress of the local government and see his emergence as call to serve.
Elder Ariyibi, a state officer of the party, in his reaction added his voice to the call for support for the candidate stressing that as party members, the decision of the party is final and advised those present to go out and continue to canvass vote for the candidate, advising him too to replicate the good gestures of the people by being fear to all in the discharge of his duties in office.
In his reaction, Otunba Kehinde Almoroof Oloyede appreciated all present at the meeting for the support so far and also appealed for more support.
He assured that his administration will be focused on the development of the local government and that all members of the party will be part of the administration as he intends running “all inclusive government”.
In his words, “let me thank you all for the support so far, we have put the primary election behind us and as one family, the election in July should be our priority now. I want to assure all that we shall run the administration together with fear of God and support of all of you, ours will be all inclusive administration. I want to ask for your support to ensure we win the election convincingly”.
Otunba Oloyede stated that it’s expedient that members go to the election as a united family, and that no effort will be left unappreciated.
Highlight of the visit was the reunion of the candidate with two of his co-contestants in the build up to the primary election: Hon. Yussuf Tunde Adesanya and Hon. Dawud Olajobi.
Otunba Oloyede embraced them and promised to work with them “as they are his brothers” and that since the seat will be occupied by only one person, it’s pertinent they work together.
