All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state has charged the Lagos State Police Command to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged assassination attempt on the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate, Senator Iyiola Omisore in order to reveal the true circumstances surrounding the story.
According to a statement issued by APC’s Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Barr. Kunle Oyatomi, a perfect investigation into the alleged assassination attempt would be necessary saying the source of the story could not be trusted.
The Media and Publicity Secretary of the Omisore Campaign Organisation, Hon. Diran Odeyemi had told journalists on Wednesday, 18th June, 2014, that some hired assassins stormed Omisore’s private residence located at 11 Thompson Avenue, Ikoyi Lagos State at the wee hour of Tuesday, 17th June, 2014.
Odeyemi said the suspected hired assassins came searching for Omisore but met his absence disclosing that the Lagos state police shot one of suspected assassins and apprehended him.
But the party said an investigation into the case would be needed saying “this is absolutely necessary because the source of the story is a psychopathic and serial liar who has been known to tell a lot of falsehood to draw undeserved attention to himself and create a false impression of goodness that is antithetic to his natural disposition.”
He said any story emanating from the Omisore/PDP camp should be taken with a pinch of salt because, “our experience with these people over the years and in the run-up to the coming election is that they are a fountain of lies that hardly runs dry.”
The APC further said that most of the time, violent events of a fatal nature have been staged by these people who turn around to accuse others of responsibility for criminal activities undertaking by themselves.
“So when they now tell you of an assassination attempt, it will make a lot of sense to investigate thoroughly to get to the bottom of the story,” Oyatomi said.
The APC further urged the Lagos Police Command to fish out those allegedly invaded Omisore’s Lagos residence saying “it is not impossible that they are up to yet another mischief with this story.”
