#Osun: Arrest Of APC Leaders, Supporters Hightens Tension; How I Escaped Being Shot By Masked Security Men – Sen Salami

The alleged arrest of some major leaders and supporters of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has hightened tension among the party as electorate have thronged polling units in the state to execise their franchise.

Some of the leaders allegedly arrested include Alhaji Lai Mohammed, National Publicity Secretary of the party, who latest reports indicated has just been released after hours of investigation. 

Impeccable source told our correspondent that leaders of the APC were arrested late night on Friday, 8th August, 2014. 
According to the spokesperson of the APC in the state, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, the arrest was planned and executed by the PDP to throw members of the ruling party in confusion as voting exercise kicks off.

Also, APC leaders in Oba Ile  in Olorunda Local Government Area , Tijani Oladosu and five others were said to have been arrested. 

Efforts to get reaction from the Police Public Relations Officer in the stage proved abortive as calls put across to her telephone were not answered. 

In a related development, one of the leaders of the APC in Osogbo, Senator Bayo Salami, escaped being shot on Friday night as masked armed security men beseiged his residence in Osogbo to attest him.

Our correspondent gathered that about 15 security men who were armed to the stormed his residence late on Friday night and forced his gate open to gain entry.

After entering into the premises, the security men, some of whom were masked, were said to have started shooting at the main door to his house but could not force the door open. 

The ex-lawmaker when contacted confirmed that masked security men came and started shooting at his door but he said he was at the polling unit where he was doing accreditation as at 8:30 on Saturday morning. 

According to him, his gateman was beaten to pulp and whisked away but was released later in the night.

Senator Salami said he had gone to the polling unit this morning for accreditation.
