Osun State Government on Tuesday, 4th March, 2014, disclosed that it has within its first three years of the administration completed about 400 kilometres of road network across the state.
Briefing journalists in his office in Osogbo, the state capital, southwest Nigeria, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Sunday Akere, said the roads consist of intra and intercity roads across the state.
According to Akere, the roads include 21 roads in Osogbo totalling over 26 kilometres including the inner ring roads; 15 Ilesa township roads totalling 30 kilometres; and 14 Ede township roads totalling 21 kilometres.
Others include: 22 intercity roads totalling 317 kilometres across the state; while another 13 intra-city roads stretching a total of 79.5 kilometres was executed through direct labour.
The commissioner said another six roads stretching over 74 kilometres across the state is at 81 percent completion, while various other road construction projects are at different level of completion.
It is noteworthy to state that the state Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, has embarked on construction of over 700 kilometres stretch of roads in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
Akere added that before the end of the second quarter of this year, more of the roads would be ready for commissioning.
