As the collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) ahead of the August 9 governoship election in Osun state ended on Monday, 4th August, 2014, the Independent National Electoral Commission has said that a total of 986,117 PVCs representing 70.13 percent have been distributed.
The INEC to this end re-affirmed that only voters with PVCs will be allowed to vote during the Saturday’s poll.
In a statement issued by the Chief Public Affairs Officer of the Commission in the state, Mrs. Adenike Tadese and made available to our thegazellenews.com in Osogbo on Tuesday, 5th August, 2014 out of 1,407,222 voters that registered in the state, 420, 030 representing 29.87 percent voters did not collect their PVCs.
The state Resident Electoral Commissioner. Mr. Olusegun Agbaje while speaking through Tadese re-affirmed the commission’s quest to enhance transparency and fairness during the voting exercise.
Agbaje then urged electorate to cooperate with INEC staff in order to achieve success during the poll.
