By Timothy Agbor, Osogbo

The Osun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, 11th August, 2014 said the party was going to challenge the outcome of the Saturday’s election at the election petition tribunal.

According to the party, the election was a robbery of the electorate of the state thus necessitating the rejection of the result that won Mr. Rauf Aregbesola of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) a second term.

This was part of the resolution reached after a meeting of the party in Osogbo.

The party in a communique signed by the PDP chairman in the state, Alhaji Ganiyu Olaoluwa, described Saturday’s election as robbery of the electorate and that it is taking its complaints to the Election Tribunal.

The communique held that the former acting Chairman of PDP in the state, Otunba Ojo Williams moved a motion that the Osun gubernatorial election was marred with fraud and irregularities and that the Osun PDP should reject it in totality, the motion was seconded by a member of the party, Alhaji Halidu Tiamiyu.

The communique said, “the PDP in Osun rejects in totality the outcome of the result and the party will contest it until the people’s mandate which was stolen is returned.”

The communique however praised and commended the people of Osun state for coming out enmasse to vote for the PDP.
