Osun Guber: I’ll Use Osun Natural Resources To Better People’s Lives  – Owolade, Accord Party Candidate

By Timothy Agbor, Osogbo

The governorship candidate of the Accord Party in the August 9 governorship election in Osun state, Bar. Niyi Owolade on Friday, 11th July, 2014, said his administration would tap into the huge natural resources that the state has in order to transform the state in all ramifications.

He made this disclosure at a press conference held in Osogbo to herald campaign rally of his party in the state.

Owolade, who had served as Commissioner for Health and Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice under the administrations of former Governors Adebisi Akande and Olagunsoye Oyinlola respectively noted that a lot of capital will be brought into the state economy through tourism.

The governorship candidate who had dumped the Labour Party as a governorship aspirant to the Accord Party highlighted five points agenda which include employement for youths through a robust agricultural scheme, functional education programme, infrastructure development, human capital development and tourism.

Owolade also stated that students in the state schools and tertiary institutions will enjoy free and qualitative education if Accord Party sweeps the poll.

The Accord party candidate posited that the state has the abundant natural resources to prosecute the programme, stressing that the mainstay of the people of the state is education which Accord Party will pursue to take the state from the wood.

Owolade lamented that youth unemployment has been on the increase, but Accord Party is set to provide gainful employment for the teeming youth of the state roaming about the streets.

He said that if the party wins the coming election, it has designed an effective robust agricultural scheme that will employ 18,000 graduates within 12 months of being in power, adding that good road network and rural electrification will be put in place to make abundant food for the people.

The Accord Party candidate said that the moribund farm settlement created by the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, but abandoned by successive governments will be revived to provide employment for the people of the state.

On education, Owolade said that it will be free from primary to secondary schools while tertiary institutions will be a model for other states. He said further that technical education in the state will be paramount to his administration, as this will develop the state technologically.

He assured the people of Osun State of efficient civil service, saying that the sector as the core value of any government, the party will engage in human development of the sector and make it to have adequate remuneration worth of service.

Owolade said that if the people of the state give him the mandate come August 9, workers in the state will be paid correct minimum wage across board, instead of the present state where workers are short-changed.

He therefore urged the people of Osun State to vote massively for the party in the coming election, so that, the present capital flight associated with the present All Progressives Party{APC} will end come August 9, 2014.

Expressing confidence on the newly deployed Residential Electoral Commissioner in the state, Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct free, fair and credible election, Owolade hailed INEC chairman, Prof. Attaihru Jega for removing Ambassador Rufus Akeju.
