Osun Will Be Properly Policed – Jonathan

By Timothy Agbor, Osogbo

President Goodluck Jonathan weekend, 2nd August, 2014 stated that Osun state will be properly policed to ensure safety of lives and property as people of the state set to elect their new governor on Saturday, 9th August, 2014.

President Jonathan declared this at the Osogbo City Stadium during the mega rally of the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

The President said the clamour for security not to be deployed for the election was not justifiable considering the incident that occurred during an election in which ten youth corps members were killed.

He however averred that nothing would prevent the federal government from deploying security to Osun State massively to forestall repetition of the post-2011 general election bloodshed in the country.

The president then read riot act to miscreants to stay away from the state before, during and after the gubernatorial election or face the full wrath of the law should they attempt to foment trouble in the election.

Addressing the mammoth crowd at the rally, the President said “do you agree that we should not deploy security for the election? In response, the excited crowd chorused “No, no, no”.

President Jonathan vowed that security operatives will deal with whoever that tries to cause problem during the election. He said such trouble makers would be dealt with according to the law.

The President urged the people of the state to vote for PDP candidate so as to enable federal government to develop the state.

His words: “We will develop Osun State with Omisore. We need your cooperation to be able to do this. Vote for Omisore and leave the rest for us”.

Some of the dignitaries on the occasion include Vice President Namadi Sambo, PDP National Chairman, Adamu Muazu, chairman of Board of Trustees of the party, Chief Tony Anenih; and Governor-elect of Ekiti state, Mr Ayodele Fayose.

The President had earlier visited the Ooni of Ile, Oba Okunade Sijuwade at his palace in Ile-Ife.
