The Governor of the State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, has implored well-to-do Nigerians, particularly youths to invest in projects capable of empowering the people and generating employment for the unemployed population in the society.
He also called on the rich to use their wealths to embark on businesses and investments that would generate multiplier effects and impact on the lives of the people around them.
Governor Oyetola made these calls at the inauguration of Bayse One Brick House Hotel built by a former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Adelabu to commemorate his 50th birthday, in Ibadan.
Oyetola who felicitated with Adelabu on the occasion of his birthday, lauded him for embarking on projects for the benefits of the people and as a way of upholding the tenets of the progressives family as a people and development-oriented party.
He added: “The building of this state-of-the-art hotel is an indication that Chief Adelabu is passionate about providing employment opportunities for our teeming youths and at the same time enhancing the status of Ibadan as a frontline city in Nigeria and Africa.
“The hotel will contribute in no small measure to the social and economic development of Ibadan in particular and Oyo State as a whole.
“There is no doubt that this gesture, coming from a young man and a political leader, will serve as an inspiration and an encouragement for the youth to embrace service for sustainable development”.
Governor Oyetola who was accompanied by some members of his cabinet, urged the celebrant not to relent in his efforts to invest in the lives of the people saying, “it is heartening that Chief Adelabu is embarking on people-oriented projects to mark his 50th birthday as a way of giving back to the society”.
“As a man whose grandfather and father were popular and enigmatic politicians, Chief Adelabu has, by embarking on projects, demonstrated that he is a chip off the old block whose life is dedicated to service”.
Earlier, the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, hailed the celebrant for dedicating his God-given wealth to impact on the lives of the people.
Sanwo-Olu who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, described Adelabu as a focused, dedicated and committed man.
Also, the former Interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Adebisi Akande, eulogised the celebrant for the landmark achievements he has made so far.
Akande who alluded to 1970 when the celebrant was born as the year that gave birth to sustainable peace and unity after a prolonged civil war, called on Nigerians to continue to embrace peace and cohesion.
In his remarks, the celebrant, Mr. Adebayo Abdul-Waheed Adelabu, commended Governor Oyetola for gracing the occasion with his physical presence.
Adelabu who returned all glory to God for sparing his life all through, thanked God for using him to make positive impact on the lives of the people.
He said he had been used by God to generate employment opportunities for over 600 people in the various companies he owns in Oyo State.
“I ‘m happy seeing our Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, grace this occasion today. I am indeed glad.
“I have every cause to be grateful to God. At 50, I have already lived longer than both my father and my grandfather. I thank God for sparing my life against all odds.
“I rededicate myself to the service of humanity through the provision of employment for the youths. The two major companies I have here employed over 600 people who are residents of Oyo State and this has been contributing in no measure to the development of the State”, Adelabu stated.
In their separate goodwill messages, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Oyo state, Mr. Moses Alake Adeyemo and former Managing Director, First Bank of Nigeria PLC, Mr Bisi Onasanya, congratulated the celebrant on the attainment of golden jubilee.
