PDP Flays Akiolu’s Endorsement Of Ambode

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the attitude and pronouncement of Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, who said that the former accountant-general of Lagos, Mr. Akin Ambode, is the preferred governorship candidate to succeed Governor Babatunde Fashola in 2015.

The party spokesman, Taofik Gani, in a statement made available to P.M NEWS, described the monarch’s pronouncement as unfortunate and an attempt to support the wish of the former governor of the state, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the statement,”Now that Oba Akiolu has openly manifested his partisanship and favouritism for a party and a aspirant, we have no choice but to call him to order.

“The monarch’s action is regrettable and very unbecoming of a traditional ruler who is expected to be a father of all.

“His decision to openly descend into the murky waters of partisan politics has unequivocally confirmed him as not fit and proper to be a ruler, or Oba of Lagos,” he stated.

The party advised Akioku to apologise to the people of Lagos and to publicly retract the endorsement of Ambode within seven days.
