Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has given the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, ultimatum to publish the names of lawmakers who were awarded contracts by Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and also the details of the contracts.
It will be recalled that the Akpabio has stated that some lawmakers were the “biggest beneficiaries” awarded contracts by the NDDC during the recent probing of the ministry.
When asked how the lawmakers benefitted, he said: “I just told you that we have records to show that most of the contracts in the NDDC are given out to members of the National Assembly”.
Reacting, the Speaker has given the minister 48 hours to publish the names and the names of the lawmakers awarded contracts, enjoining him not to desist from doing do so.
The Speaker accused Akpabio of trying to be smart with the claims and he urged the minister to publish the names for the interest of transparency.
