Three pupils of Saint Marks Anglican School, Kola Balogun area of Osogbo, Osun state capital have been dragged before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for stoning and injuring their teacher, Mr. Osho Bamidele Samuel.
The three pupils arraigned are: Haruna Waliu, aged 19, Adebayo Abeeb, 19, and Oladimeji Tunde (21).
They were alleged to have assaulted the teacher thus causing him disclocation of his two arms.
According to a charge sheet obtained by our correspondent in Osogbo, the students distrupted the peace in their school after they attacked their teachers and pelted them with stones.
It reads: “That you Haruna Waliu (19), Adebayo Abeeb (19) and Oladimeji Tunde (21) on 24th October, 2014 at about 12:30pm at St. Marks Anglican Grammar School, Kolabalogun area of Osogbo in Osogbo Magisterial District.
“That you (accused persons) at thesame place and time did cause breach of peace by stoning the teachers in the school premises and also assaulted one Osho Bamidele Samuel of which he developed dislocation in his two hands.”
The Police prosecutor, Seargent Ajayi Sunday argued that the accused persons have committed offences contrary to and punishable under Section 517, 249 (d) and 351 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun state of Nigeria, 2003.
But the trio entered into not guilty pleas. Their counsel, Miss Kemi Bakare applied for their bail stressing that they would provide reliable sureties to stand their bail if granted.
The presiding judge, Mrs Fatima Sodamade granted the three pupils bail in the sum of 50,000 each with one surety each in the like sum.
The Magistrate said their sureties should be their parent or relative adding that their addresses should be verified by the prosecution.
She adjourned the matter till March 17, 2016 for mention.
