Two armed robbers have shot a businessman on his legs before snatching his N4 million in Mile 2 area of Lagos State.
The man reportedly cashed a cheque in a bank and was going to Alaba International Market where he wanted to buy some goods for sale when the incident occurred.
An eyewitness who identified himself as Raheem said, the victim explained that the two bandits operating on a motorcycle probably trailed him from the bank.
Raheem said immediately the businessman alighted from a mini-bus and was searching for a motorcycle, the hoodlums stopped before him and the one on the passenger seat alighted, shot the victim on the legs and snatched the cash and rode off. He said the victim was rushed to the hospital by passers-by, including a policeman.
LEADERSHIP Weekend investigation revealed that the robber shot the victim one bullet in each leg in broad daylight. People scampered for safety as the robbery unfolded. The hoodlums escaped on the motorcyle towards the Oshodi axis of Oshodi-Apapa expressway.
All efforts to reach the state police command spokesperson, DSP Ngozi Braide, on phone to confirm the story failed as at the time of filing in this report.
