The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District in the Nigeria’s Upper Legislative Chamber, Senator Sikiru Adebayo Osinowo has sent a message of condolence to the family and colleagues of deceased Editor of Telegraph newspaper on Saturday, Alhaji Waheed Bakare.
In a press statement released from his Media Office, Senator Osinowo described the late senior journalist as someone loved by almost everybody he came in contact, saying this is the feature of a good man.
“He died early but the positive tributes pouring in from those who knew him and have had contact with him gave a clear indication of who he was: a perfect gentleman committed to building cordial relationship with people,” he said.
Senator Osinowo said that death is an inevitable occurrence in human life and always come when least expected.
“Although we are sad at the demise of our brother, we should take solace in the fact that he left an indelible mark in the hearts of the people. He lived a fulfilling life and all we can continue to do now is to continue to pray for him,” the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industries said.
He sympathised with the wife of the deceased who lost a caring and loving husband; his children who lost a caring, loving and dutiful father; staff and management of Telegraph newspaper who lost a colleague and friend; and the journalism profession which lost a dependable and active practitioner.
“But who are we to question Almighty Allah? It is His decision that Alhaji Waheed Bakare will leave us at this point in time, may Almighty Allah expand his grave and make it a comfortable abode for him. May he be rewarded with al-Janat firdaos,” the Senator said.
