The Secretary to the Ekiti State Government, Dr. Ganiyu Owolabi has attributed the various laurels; trophies and awards won in the education sector to the commitment of the Kayode Fayemi administration to moving education to its pride of place as well as the initiatives of the principal players in the sector.
The SSG who presided over the 2013 end of year party at the State Universal Basic Education Board noted that the development achieved in the education sector was worthy of commendation particularly when the scenario is compared to the dilapidated state of the sector before the advent of the present administration.
Dr. Owolabi assured that the state would not relent in its efforts at securing the future of children in the state by ensuring a virile education sector manned and supervised by competent and well experienced educationists that can guarantee the desired result.
In her remarks, the state Deputy Governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu who doubles as the Chairman of SUBEB, commended the education secretaries in the state for their contribution to the development of the sector.
The Deputy Governor noted that the open day programme organised to boost interactions between parents and teachers and create forum to discuss improvement on child’s education has been a tremendous success.
Prof. Adelabu added that the Yoruba version of “Children meet the Governor” also introduced by SUBEB is second to none in the country and a giant stride in education.
She assured that the state government would leave no stone unturned towards maintain a high standard of education in the state.
Various awards and gifts were distributed to diligent and hardworking members of staff, pupils of various schools and retirees.
