SSS Takes Over Osun; Masked Security Men Invade Osogbo Streets; Residents Vow To Resist Intimidation

Reports reaching have indicated that a heavy presence of the men of the Directorate of State Security Service is now in Osun ahead of the August governorship poll.

Also, this medium learnt that some masked security men have been parading the streets of the state capital apparently in a bid to scare the people.

However, the unusually heavy security  presence rather than scare the people seems to have angered most residents who expressed annoyance at the open display of weapons without any signs of provocation by the residents.

Residents claimed they started noticing the heavy presence as from Tuesday, 29th July, 2014, as about 70 white Hilux vans and Peugeut Boxer Coaster buses filled with the gun-wielding DSS men cruised round the state capital, Osogbo and many other parts of the state.

Residents started discussing the development in hushed tones as many looked at the masked men with disdain as from Tuesday.

However, by Wednesday, 31st July, 2014, when gunshots rent the air in many parts of the state sending many people scampering into safety, many of the residents later came out saying they would not be intimidated by the masked men.

At the Oke Fia area of the city, gathered that several bullets were fired into the air as the long convoy of the men in black uniform drove recklessly through the town.

An official of one of the banks located at the Oke Fia roundabout in Osogbo said the activities of the men of the DSS was creating panic adding that the Federal Government would be doing a lot of damage to the country’s already tense situation by shattering the peace Osun had enjoyed.
