The Statistician-General of Ekiti State, Mr Jide Oguntimehin has charged stakeholders and government workers in charge of collation and reporting of data in the state to always ensure accuracy and timeliness of their reports in order to enhance the developmental plans of the present administration in the state.
Oguntimehin who gave the charge during a meeting with the staff of the state Bureau of Statistics in Ado Ekiti explained that dishonesty and laziness on the part of statisticians often lead to poor data collation thereby making government goals in the areas of planning and implementation difficult to accomplish.
He noted that the diverse programmes of government in agriculture, health, education and other sectors rely on accurate data.
While charging the members of staff of the bureau to discharge their duties conscientiously, he however warned that government would not hesitate to discipline any member of staff who fails to live up to expectation.
He also urged them to avoid lateness and absenteeism noting that the job of a statistician requires absolute dedication and diligence.
