There Are No Fake Military Officers In Amuwo Odofin LG, Says Council Boss As Civil Society Groups Plan Protest Against Area E Commander

The Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, has debunked a statement made by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko that fake military officers operate in the local government. Comrade Adewale made this declaration during a world press conference, which was held at the council secretariat in Festac Town, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

The local government boss while speaking at the media conference noted that “the uniform referred as fake military uniform by Manko was being used all over the country by the Man O’ War personnel. Even when the CP came visited the local government on 14th August, 2012, he was accompanied on a tour of the local government by the Man O’ War personnel in the same uniform and other council officials. Is this the only local government where Man O’ War personnel put on a uniform that has a resemblance with the Nigerian Army?

He further emphasized that the local government has cordial relationship with members of the Armed Forces including the NSCDC, Police, the Nigerian Army, SSS and other paramilitary personnel.

The local government boss stressed that the local government has been having a headlong battle with the Area E Commander, ACP Dan Okoro, over a criminal and notorious group he formed, Community Policing Youths Vanguard. “This group is not backed by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and they operate at will because of the tremendous support from ACP Dan Okoro,” he noted.

He also stated that the group has concluded plans at a meeting they held in 5th Avenue, Festac Town to assassinate him and members of his family.

In a related development, members of the Civil Society Groups in Lagos State have called on the Inspector General of Police to suspend ACP Dan Okoro for abuse of office and establishing Community Policing Youth Vanguard. “We have been following the trend in Amuwo Odofin Local Government with keen interest, and we are going to lead a protest next week to demand for the suspension of ACP Dan Okoro”, they noted.
