The desire to leave Nigeria and sought greener pasture abroad has left two Nigerians ruing the loss of N780,000.
Both Demilade Adetuberu and Funmilayo Adewuyi have the intention of leaving Nigeria, their destination: Switzerland.
In August 2019, they both contacted Olalere Bakare in Osogbo to help them secure visa and flight tkckets to their destination. Bakare, 52, assured them of his capacity in meeting their demand. He gave them bill for the contract.
Eager to be in Switzerland, the two ladies obliged and paid. Demilade Adetuberu paid N235,000 while Funmilayo Adewuyi paid N527,000 totaling N780,000.
They met at Captain Cook area of the Osun State capital where the money and other documents were handed over to him.
That was where the story now develop k-leg.
The two ladies waited and waited but the visa and flight tickets were not forthcoming.
They sought for the refund of their money but Olalere Bakare neither produced the visa plus fight tickets nor the money.
Five months and still counting, the nothing has been done by Olalere, hence the victims had no other option than to seek the intervention of the law.
He was thus arrested and arraigned before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo.
He was arraigned on five-count charge bordering on: conspiracy, false pretences, fraud and stealing.
Bakare pleaded not guilty to the charges.
His counsel, S. O. Abiona, urged the court to admitt to bail and the police prosecutor, Abiodun Fagboyinbo, did not oppose the bail application.
Magistrate Risikat Olayemi, in her ruling, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 and one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till February 12, 2020, for hearing.
