A businesswoman, Bunmi Iyika, on Thursday urged an Upper Area Court in Mararaba, Nassarawa State, to dissolve her marriage to Bamidele Medayesi, for alleged incessant beatings.
Iyika of Masaka, Nassarawa State, said the marriage was blessed with two children, but there was no peaceful in the union.
“My husband beats me up at the slightest provocation, We’ve been living together for six years now and my husband has not paid my dowry as the customs demand.
“There is no peace between us anymore, so I beg the court to dissolve this marriage and give me custody of our two children.
“I want him to give us N15,000 monthly for our upkeep and he should meet up with all our needs anytime we call him,’’ she said.
The respondent, Medayesi, a civil servant, also residing in Masaka, denied all allegations by his wife, saying that they have been living in peace.
The Magistrate, Mr Vincent Gwahemba, adjourned the matter till Jan. 27, for the petitioner to bring her witnesses. (NAN)
